Provide a fun platform for your raving fans to show their fandom and meet others through engaging over video.
To date, video has mainly been a single-player modality.
Think Youtube and Twitch are mainly someone broadcasting themselves while others observe and mainly interact via text. Social channels like Tiktok, Instagram are similar. “Performers” are broadcasting their talents while followers observe, like and engage via text.
As we move from renting audiences to owning audiences and as online communities continue to burgeon across niche topics, it’s no longer only about the stars of the show broadcasting their talents. It’s about their tribe of like-minded, passionate enthusiasts showing their fandom and actively participating.
It’s no longer about being in the audience watching the Broadway play, it’s about being part of the experiential play like Sleep No More. It’s no longer about only watching anime, it’s about dressing up and heading to Comic Con.
As we shift into multi-player engagement, the star of the show also takes on the role of facilitator.
They create space and a platform for their ultimate fans to participate, express and show their fandom and connect with new friends who share similar interests.
Athena is about enabling the creator to take on the facilitator role with their tribe: giving them an active voice. Liken it to when celebs have their fans go crazy in stadiums.
How have creators used Athena?
We’ve seen course creators, community leaders and coaches (life, career, speaking) all get so creative in how they utilize Athena.
👋🏻 Introductions: Likely you have an #introductions channel, this can be a fun variation.
🥶 Icebreaker: Share some fun icebreaker questions that add some personality to your community. Example: Who is your favorite character and why?
🤹🏻♀️ Show and tell: What are some things your members are working on? They can simply share their experiences through storytelling or show what they’re working on. Example: weight loss progress, product review, make up?
📚 Storytelling time: Ask thought-provoking questions for people to share about themselves. Example: What’s one thing you would tell your younger self?
🤝 Accountability: Was there a fun assignment or exercise that they do? Mix this in with show and tell as an accountability check! Example: Putting speaking confidence to practice, reflections on the latest course content.

Getting on camera the first time is always unnerving but we’ve seen it become addictive once they learn creators have provided a safe, fun and engaging space to be seen and heard and to more intimately meet other like-minded friends.
